MANILA, Philippines – Smart announced Friday, February 13, that its users could now add to their monthly bill or use load credits to pay for apps or media on Apple’s App Store or on iTunes.
The move, called “Pay-With-Mobile,” takes away one of the barriers some Filipinos have with buying things online: the lack of a credit card.
A statement from Smart said the new service lets users sign up for a Pay-With-Mobile number, which they can use exclusively with their iTunes accounts.
Users can do this by texting REG to 4949. They will then receive a text with their Pay-With-Mobile number, as well as other pertinent account details.
Once it’s been set, users can access the Apple ID Account Settings page on iTunes or the App Store, then select “MasterCard” as their payment option and enter the number and other details on their corresponding fields.
“All app downloads, in-app purchases, and digital content bought using Pay-With-Mobile will be deducted from users’ prepaid load, or charged on top of their monthly postpaid bills,” the statement added.
Smart’s Pay-With-Mobile service will begin rolling out February 16, with full availability expected by February 18. – Rappler.com
