Gravity Rush heads to Playstation 4 with a remaster

SINGAPORE – One popular Playstation Vita game – Gravity Rush – is making its way to the Playstation 4.

Gravity Rush Remastered will be released on December 10, and to introduce the game to Southeast Asian fans, creative director Keiichiro Toyama was at Singapore’s GameStart 2015 to discuss the game’s appeal.

For those unfamiliar with the title, Gravity Rush is a game about a young girl suffering memory loss who later discovers that she can control and shift gravity. She uses this power to defeat the evil Nevi forces who have invaded the floating town of Hekseville.

While the general theme of the story is a familiar one to many, the core mechanics and gameplay made the game popular. By tilting the PS Vita, gamers are able to shift gravity and move the camera, allowing them to view the world of Gravity Rush as if the game is literally within the device. Toyama and his team used the Vita’s gyroscope to pull the mechanic off.

The game was originally released in 2012. It became an award-winning title in Japan and also garnered critical acclaim among western gaming sites.

The game will run in full HD 1080p and will have graphical and performance improvements to suit the new platform. Similar to how the game runs on the Vita, gamers will get to manipulate camera and gravity by tilting and moving the entire Playstation 4’s Dual Shock controller.

Aside from a quick demo from Toyama, gamers were also able to try Gravity Rush at Playstation’s booth.

Gravity Rush Remastered will be released in Southeast Asia with two language versions: Chinese and English. The three original DLC packs will be released along with the remaster. Toyama also announced that Gravity Rush 2 will also follow for the Playstation 4, although he did not reveal much infomation about the sequel. – Rappler.com
