8 games we’re excited to see at E3 2019
'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,' 'Halo: Infinite,' and 'Marvel’s Avengers' are just some of the games we can’t wait to see at the biggest gaming event of the year

MANILA, Philippines – The hype train is in full steam with E3, gaming’s biggest showcase event, right around the corner. While news of Sony skipping the show this year is disappointing, there are still a lot of games that we’re excited to see at E3 2019.

Here are some of them below:

Marvel’s Avengers

Two years after it was first announced at E3 2017, Square Enix is finally set to unveil gameplay for the Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics, the developers behind the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy. In a tweet, Marvel Entertainment confirmed that Marvel’s Avengers, the game’s official title, is set to be revealed at Square Enix’s E3 panel. All we currently know about the game comes from a leak that describes it as single-player and cooperative game where players can customize the abilities of their heroes and combine powers.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

EA is set to host their own conference where they along with developers Respawn Entertainment are expected to show off the very first Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay. The story-driven, single-player Star Wars game is set after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Players take control of Cal Kestis, a Jedi who survived the events of Order 66 and is on the run from the Empire.

Halo Infinite

With Sony absent, Microsoft is surely hoping to steal the show at E3 this year. What better way to do this than with one of their most popular first-party properties, Halo. It was first revealed in a teaser trailer at E3 last year that Microsoft and 343 Industries were walking on a new Halo title called Halo Infinite. Nothing has been revealed since then so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll finally be treated to some gameplay this year.

Gears 5

Besides Halo Infinite, Gears 5 is another Microsoft exclusive that could turn some heads. Not a lot is currently known about the game. But as with every Gears title, we’re expecting a lot of Locust blood and guts to spill in this one.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare appears to be taking a big departure from the science fiction-esque setting of previous titles with one that favors a more modern setting. The first trailer released ahead of E3 reveals that the title is sort of a reboot of the beloved 2007 classic with Captain Price returning as one of the campaign’s main characters. It’s said to also feature a brand new engine that brings some graphical and gameplay improvements. We’ll likely see all of this in action at E3.

Cyberpunk 2077

Earlier this year, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account confirmed that the game would be at E3. What exactly they plan to show or reveal remains a mystery. It’s been months since we were treated to the extensive gameplay demo that shows off the game’s combat, driving, and RPG elements. The game has surely seen some changes since then, which makes us excited to see more. Hopefully, we also get a definite release date at E3.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Nintendo at Nintendo Direct last year unveiled a trailer for the third entry in their Luigi’s Mansion series, tentatively called Luigi’s Mansion 3. The game is scheduled to be released for the Switch sometime in 2019. Details regarding the game, however, remain thin. We’re hoping Nintendo showcases gameplay and gives us a firm release date for the game at their conference.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

There’s a lot that’s already been revealed about Pokemon Sword and Shield leading up to E3 including the return of random Pokemon encounters, the starting 3 Pokemon you can choose from, and Dynamaxing, a new mechanic that allows a Pokemon to power-up for a turn. We hope to hear more details about the game and possibly be introduced to more new Pokemon. – Rappler.com
