Check out the P50's dinner plate lenses

Huawei on Wednesday, June 2, gave viewers a sneak peek of the next phone in its P flagship series, the P50. There weren’t a lot of details about the phone other than the fact that its camera array and the lenses look huge, occupying half of the phone’s top portion.

On the top “dinner plate,” there are 3 lenses visible while the bottom has one large lens. Huawei is also continuing to work with Leica for its optics, as shown in the teaser.

The P50 was part of Huawei’s livestream for its new HarmonyOS 2 operating system. HarmonyOS 2, says Huawei, will have improved integration between devices, a more streamlined design, and better device-friendliness with non-Huawei gadgets.

Huawei also promised security and performance boosts with HarmonyOS 2, specifically the system’s ability to “maintain read/write speeds similar to those of a new phone after 36 months of use, even with very little storage available.”

About 100 Huawei devices are set to receive the HarmonyOS 2 upgrade in China including the Huawei Mate 40, Mate 30, P40, Mate X2, nova 8, and MatePad Pro.

Huawei also launched new devices running on the new OS including the WATCH 3 series, featuring a curved glass screen and detailed haptic feedback, and the MatePad Pro, featuring a 12.6-inch OLED display and the Huawei Kirin 9000 chipset. – Rappler.com
