OPPO on Wednesday, February 10, launched the newest device in their midrange phone line, the Reno5. Two variants will be available: the Reno5 4G at P18,999 and the Reno5 5G at P23,999.

The phones will be available for pre-order until February 19.

The 4G variant has a 64MP quad camera setup on the rear and a 44MP front camera. The 5G variant has the same rear camera setup and a 32MP front camera. Both phones come with what OPPO calls the “Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) Portrait Video System” which optimizes the unit’s ability to take high quality portraits for video and stills.

The phones are particularly optimized for retaining dynamic range and sharpness in dim or backlit situations through the use of AI. The 4G variant also has a “AI Mixed Portrait” feature that allows users to take double exposure images wherein they can superimpose one image on another.

The phones are also able to take videos that simultaneously make use of both the front and back cameras, a feature that we may be seeing in more phones this year, starting with Samsung’s S21 phones and now the OPPO Reno5.

The Reno5 4G has 50-watt fast-charging while the 5G variant has quicker 65-watt fast-charging.

Both phones have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 5G variant has the more advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip, while the 4G variant gets the 720G chip. The phone runs on ColorOS 11.1 (Android 11). The Reno5 4G comes in fantasy silver and starry black, while Reno5 5G comes in galactic silver and starry black.

Pre-orders will come with a Kuyou Smart Watch, with the phones arriving on February 20. The phones are available on Globe and Smart postpaid plans as well. – Rappler.com
