Esports scholarship for college students in the Philippines launched
Globe and Esports AcadArena offer scholarships for exceptional gamers and leaders in campus esports

A scholarship for exceptional college gamers and student esport community leaders was launched Sunday, September 20.

Globe Telecom and a local campus esports organization, Esports AcadArena, teamed up for what they say is the country’s first esports scholarship.

The scholarship will provide eligible college students tuition coverage ranging from 25% to 100%.

There will be two types: a Competitive Merit scholarship, and Leadership Merit scholarship. The former is for active rosters and players that have shown good character and performance while the latter is for support staff that have contributed to the growth of campus esports.

To be eligible, the applicant must come from a “3-star accredited” AcadArena partner student organization.

The program also offers a “Family Good Game Grant,” which will provide P25,000 to P50,000 to the families of gamers participating in specific AcadArena tournaments. This grant is open to all AcadArena partner student organizations.

Esports student organizations can apply for AcadArena accreditation, which will give them access to “monthly tournament support, exclusive league access, industry support, scholarships and more.”

These are currently the student organizations accredited by AcadArena under what it calls the “Alliance” program:

  1. Teletigers (University of Sto. Tomas)
  2. Viridis Arcus (De La Salle University)
  3. Loyola Gaming Esports (Ateneo de Manila University)
  4. Oblation Esports (University of the Philippines-Diliman)
  5. Valiant Esports (Holy Angel University)
  6. Malayan Esports Club (Malayan Colleges Laguna)
  7. Mapua Gaming Society (Mapua University)

  11. San Agustin Golden Eagles (University of San Agustin)
