MANILA, Philippines – The fighting game community (FGC) hype is truly alive as proven in the recently-concluded REV Major 2022. The event took place last September 17 to 18 at the SMX Convention Center Manila Function Rooms 4 and 5. With the return of onsite events, REV Major made this year’s installment a memorable one as it prepared a wide array of tournaments, booths and tons of activities to choose from.

Series of fighting game world tours

The various fighting game world tours ended up with a bang as different local and international players battled it out to be the ultimate REV Major champion and go into the world tour finals.

REV Major 2022’s Tekken World Tour tournament finals was a head-to-head between two South Korean players, Sang-hyun “Jeondding” Jeon and Jeong “Rangchu” Hyeon-ho. JeonDDing won using the character Julia, and went on to claim the Tekken 7 title.

Japan’s Shoji “Fenritti” Sho won the REV Major 2022 Dragon Ball FighterZ (DBFZ) tournament, earning tournament points on the road to the DBFZ World Tour championships. The ArcSys World Tour held in REV Major also had an intense fight with “YuSeongCha” winning the DNF Duel championship, and “Nth 御傍” claiming the Guilty Gear Strive tournament crown. Both champions will be invited to the world finals in March 2023.

Six-time Evolution Championship Series winner, Daigo “The Beast” Umehara, did his book signing at REV Major. The Evo series is one of the world’s biggest fighting game tournaments. Avid fans had their chance to have him sign their merch plus a photo opportunity with him as well. The director of global business development for Evolution Championship Series, Mark “MarkMan” Julio was also at REV Major, both as a guest and a shoutcaster during the Tekken World Tour segment. He also had the opportunity to meet and greet his fans and patrons.

Booths and side activities

Aside from tournaments, REV Major 2022’s partners were also given the chance to showcase not just products but different experiences. Esports entertainment group RUMBLE ROYALE had their own FGC lounge where event patrons and even the different pro players had the chance to play fighting games through their MiDi keyboard, giant keyboards, and Taiko drums.

Retro REV was also a hit where event patrons really had a blast from the past by playing their favorite classic games from beat ’em ups, retro FGs and even rhythm games.

GG Truck, a REV Major community partner, also hosted the community bay tournaments where different communities had their own mini events featuring other FG titles.

The merchandise and artist alley offered variations of cool loot and merch to choose from such as shirts, hoodies, stickers, action figures, toy collectibles and more.
