In its financial highlights, Microsoft said Intelligent Cloud revenue increased and was driven by Azure services revenue growth. Azure is Microsoft’s cloud computing platform. The company said server products and cloud services revenue increased 34% driven by Azure which grew 51%.

Productivity and business process was second-best, seeing 21% growth at $14.7 billion.

Personal computing (under the More Personal Computing moniker) saw 9% growth at $14.1 billion, led by search growth. Search advertising revenue, excluding traffic acquisition costs, increased 53%.

Among the personal computing items, Windows Commercial products and cloud services revenue went up 20%. Meanwhile, Windows OEM revenue went down 3%, Xbox content and services revenue decreased 4%, and Surface revenue was down 20%.

“We are innovating across the technology stack to help organizations drive new levels of tech intensity across their business,” said Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO.

“Our results show that when we execute well and meet customers’ needs in differentiated ways in large and growing markets, we generate growth, as we’ve seen in our commercial cloud – and in new franchises we’ve built, including gaming, security, and LinkedIn, all of which surpassed $10 billion in annual revenue over the past three years,” he added.
