Lightweight version of LINE launched in 11 countries
This new app, LINE Lite, uses less storage space and data than LINE, but also comes with just the core features LINE users love

MANILA, Philippines – LINE Corporation announced Thursday, July 23, that it was releasing a second version of its messaging app LINE for Android devices.

This new app, LINE Lite, uses less storage space and data than its full-featured counterpart.

LINE Lite installs much quicker than LINE at around 1/20 the time. LINE Lite still carries the core features of LINE – notably text messaging, stickers, and communication through images, and users can choose to make new accounts or port over existing LINE accounts.

While audio and video calls aren’t part of this iteration of LINE Lite, LINE Corporation has said in a statement that it plans to “actively introduce new features in the future.”

The first 11 supported regions are Algeria, Cambodia, Colombia, Egypt, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Vietnam. Rappler.com
