Capcom Pro Tour heads to PH with the Manila Cup

MANILA, Philippines – The Capcom Pro Tour (CPT) is the premiere league for the well-known fighting game Street Fighter, meant to collect the best fighters around the world to compete in its culminating event: The Capcom Cup.

From September 4 to 6, the Philippines will get to be a part of this series through what is known as The Manila Cup.

Thanks to the efforts of Imperium, Shoryuken.com, and local fighting game communities (FGCs), Capcom will award CPT points to the winners of the Manila Cup’s Street Fighter tournament.

With such a prize being offered, players from other countries, especially Japan, have confirmed their attendance to the said event.

Drawn in by the idea of meeting and fighting highly skilled players from other countries, more players from the local community, including known players from Cebu and Davao, are attending.

Other popular fighting games, such as Guilty Gear Xrd and Super Smash Bros, will also have their own tournaments during the 3-day event. The additional tournaments aim to accommodatte not only players who play particular games, but also those who play several, ensuring everyone can make the most out of their visit.

In a scene where normal numbers reach about 20 to 40 players, at least 200 early registrations have been confirmed for the Manila Cup.

Philippine players are also preparing for the event. Winning can mean being sent to other, bigger tournaments or even being qualified for the Capcom Cup. Others may also be partcipating to fulfill some personal achievements or to redeem themselves from past failures.

Whether determination or skill wins out will be decided during the many matches of the Manila Cup 2015.
