Microsoft reveals Creators Update for Windows 10
The Creators Update for Windows 10 is set to come out in early 2017

MANILA, Philippines – Microsoft’s Terry Myerson on Wednesday, October 26, announced “the next release of Windows 10 that will ship this coming Spring, for free to every Windows 10 device,” and it’s called the Windows 10 Creators Update.

The Creators Update, Myerson said, would expand on Microsoft’s vision for mixed reality – including virtual reality, augmented reality, and holographic computing – by providing an avenue for everyone to experience 3D.

This included an announcement of the upcoming Paint 3D, which they say will make 3D creation easy for everyone. Paint 3D was earlier teased through leaked videos of an upgraded version of Paint.

Myerson also said it would provide the best in 4K gaming and in-game broadcasting for gaming enthusiasts who enjoy using Windows 10, and also provide a faster way to connect and share creative works with the people they care about.

One apparent example of the latter was the ability for Minecraft builds to become 3D creations that can be shared in a community page. Users will be able to export their creations from Minecraft, and then print them out in 3D, with the help of Paint 3D.

Also shown at the event was an demonstration of Microsoft’s HoloLens interacting with a creation made on Paint 3D, as well as a quick virtual reality tour of a 3D space and of a square in Italy.

Microsoft also said its partners “including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer, will be shipping VR headsets” that will have a starting price of $299.

Not much is currently known about these headsets, but they will be distinct from Microsoft’s HoloLens augmented reality headset. It will also possess the six-degrees-of-freedom tracking system.

Gaming is also going to get a boost with the aid of the Beam broadcasting platform for Xbox. The Creators Update will introduce streaming capabilities for the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC using Beam.

The Creators Update will also allow players to create custom tournaments on Xbox Live.

For those looking to keep in touch with the people they care about most, Windows 10 will also get updates that will enable you to keep tabs and stay connected to your favorite people.

A new photo application will allow users to quickly annotate and share photos and videos via Skype or through email.
