PH mobile internet up 5 spots in Speedtest September rankings
Fixed broadband, however, goes down 3 spots

MANILA, Philippines – Popular internet speed test site Speedtest has updated its Speedtest Global Index rankings for September 2017. The index aggregates speed tests performed on the site on a monthly basis, collecting the data per country.

In the updated rankings, the Philippines rose by 5 spots in the mobile internet speed category from 99th (out of 121) in August 2017 to 94th this month. The average mobile download speed improved from 10.47 Mbps to 11.95 Mbps while the average mobile upload speed had a more marginal increase from 5.5 Mbps to 5.71 Mbps.

As for the fixed broadband category, the Philippines’ ranking decreased by 3 spots, going from 88th (out of 131) in August 2017 to 91st this month. The average fixed broadband download and upload speeds still increased, going from 13.29 Mbps to 13.41 Mbps and 11.29 to 11.33 Mbps, respectively. But the gains were too small to fend off other movers such as Ghana who rose from 96th to 81st; Greece from 95th to 90th; and Kenya from 90th to 83rd.
