Following criticism on closed-door meetings, the Facebook CEO and the European Parliament President Antonio Tajani switch gears

MANILA, Philippines – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg agreed to a change in his testimony regarding the Cambridge Analytica data privacy scandal to the European Parliament, with the change allowing for livestreaming of the proceedings happening Tuesday, May 22 (May 23, Manila time).

Facebook earlier admitted up to 2.7 million people in the EU may have been caught in the scandal.

Zuckerberg originally agreed to a closed-door meeting with EU’s parliament, but he and European Parliament President Antonio Tajani switched gears following criticism from the community at large.

Tajani said on Twitter, “I have personally discussed with Facebook CEO Mr Zuckerberg the possibilty of webstreaming meeting with him. I am glad to announce that he has accepted this new request. Great news for EU citizens. I thank him for the respect shown towards EP. Meeting tomorrow from 18:15 to 19:30.”

Fortune added the testimony will be livestreamed via the European Parliament website and will begin at around 12:15 am Manila time (12:15 pm EST).  – Rappler.com
