MANILA, Philippines – Huawei’s budget sub-brand Honor launched its flagship phone, the Honor 10, in the Philippines.

The Honor 10, originally unveiled in China back in April, becomes one of the cheapest phones in the Philippines to be considered a flagship.

Headlining its specs is its Kirin 970 processor, introduced in last year’s Huawei Mate 10 series and later found in the P20 flagship phones. The 970 was touted for its AI capabilities. At launch, the Mate 10 was priced at P32,990; the Mate 10 Pro at P38,990; the P20 at P34,990; and the P20 Pro at P44,990. The Honor 10 is P23,990. It has dual rear cameras (non-Leica unlike the P20 and Mate 10 phones), 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 5.84-inch full HD+ screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio, and a fingerprint scanner. The P20 Pro and P20, however, have the more advanced camera systems co-engineered with premium camera maker Leica, which have allowed the phones to reign atop the Dxomark mobile phone camera rankings. The P20 Pro is still number 1 with its 109 rating, and the P20 is third with a 102 rating. Up until recently, the P20 had been second before the HTC U12+ upended it with a 103 rating. The Honor 10 hasn’t undergone Dxomark’s tests as of writing. 

Other flagship phones in the Honor 10’s price range include the Asus Zenfone 5Z at P29,995 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S at P27,990, both of which carry Qualcomm’s flagship chip, the Snapdragon 845.
