FOR THE PHILIPPINES. LINE adds another P25.8 million to the Tyohoon Yolanda relief effort

MANILA, Philippines – LINE, the popular multi-platform messaging application, picked up more than P25.8 million (US$570,000) in sticker sales from its “Pray for the Philippines” campaign to benefit Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) relief.

The final tally for the campaign, in which LINE’s sticker shop sold a S$0.99 sticker set for charity from November 15 to Dec 31, reached ¥58,773,190 yen (over P25.8 million). An earlier report noted that the campaign raised about P24.5 million by December 19.

Akira Morikawa, president of NHN Japan, met with Ambassador Manuel Lopez at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, Japan to present the campaign’s proceeds. With some help from the Japanese Red Cross, the donations were sent to the Philippine Red Cross on January 10.

Greg Kim, LINE Plus Corporation’s Senior Manager, was grateful to the campaign’s worldwide donors “for making this generous contribution possible.”

Kim added, “LINE has been in the Philippines for two years now, and our relationship with the country and its people will be strong through thick and thin.” – Rappler.com
