Facebook adds edit and update buttons so you can customize your "A Look Back" movies

MANILA, Philippines – Don’t like your Facebook “A Look Back” movie?  You’ll soon be able edit it.

The service launched in time for Facebook’s 10th birthday earlier this week gives users a sentimental look back at their Facebook history. But as many as those who shared their movies on their Facebook walls, many also complained about the photos and posts that were automatically selected for them.

This automatic selection is based on an algorithm that crawls through each user’s Facebook account for the right posts, photos, and life events to include in the video. But depending on how you use the service, what you’ve posted, and which posts generated the most likes, the resulting video isn’t always representative of your best moments on the social network.

Enter the “EDIT” button, now appearing on some user’s “A Look Back” pages.

While clicking on the button forwards you to an EDIT page, the page does not work yet. But Facebook’s Help Center says you will soon be able to “use checkmarks on your photos and stories to adjust whether they appear in your movie.”

Once edits are complete you will be brought back to your Look Back page where an UPDATE button will appear. Clicking on the update button now brings up the share function.

When Facebook first launched the Look Back Service it did not give users the ability to share their “A Look Back” movies. Several hours later it rolled out a SHARE button. If you’ve missed the lookback craze, read all about it here or check out the tool on Facebook. Rappler.com
