MANILA, Philippines – Barely a week to go before the 2014 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Chinese tech firm Huawei released a promotional video to tease its upcoming tablets and smartphone.

The one minute ad was the company’s way of saying amazing devices don’t just come from Apple and Samsung and that it had a lot up its sleeves for MWC.

The video shows revolves around a conversation between a man and what appears to be Siri running on a white iPhone 5.

The man holding the device asks the phone a question, “What’s new at this year’s Mobile World Congress?” and then follows up, “Okay show me something really amazing.” The virtual assistant goes on to describe 3 new devices.

• a new tablet with a slim design and a battery that gives you days of use
• a smartphone with an amazing front camera
• a new multimedia tablet that supports next gen LTE

The ad’s clincher comes when the man exclaims, “Wow!” then asks, “What are they? Fruit or Some Song?” The Siri-like voice replies, “No, they are Huawei.”

While the “fruit” likely refers to Apple, the “Some Song” pronounciation will remind most of Samsung.

Huawei’s video skimps on the details, but some may want to praise the cheeky advertisement for the approach. Whether Huawei can actually deliver is another matter entirely.

Based on a 2013 report by the International Data Corporation, Huawei ranked third in the smartphone market in terms of market share and shipment volume.
