(2ND UPDATE) Facebook's services appear to be coming back online as of 4:24 pm, Philippine time

MANILA, Philippines (2ND UPDATE) – As of 4:24 pm, Philippine time, Facebook appears to be coming back up across the world again.

The Next Web reports that a Facebook spokesperson released the following statement, saying, “Earlier this afternoon we experienced an issue with our serving infrastructure that prevented some people from accessing Facebook for a short time. We’ve resolved the underlying problem and service is recovering. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”

Facebook’s Platform Status page earlier showed that issues with its services was “resulting in higher than normal error rates and latency.”

Facebook was earlier unresponsive worldwide, with the site showing errors across its website and on Facebook Messenger.

Based on a number of site downtime monitors, Facebook’s services on the Web as well as on mobile were unresponsive or showing network errors at present.

Instagram and Slingshot, services owned by Facebook, were still working during the Facebook downtime.

Facebook’s blogs, including its engineering blog were also down, with its Twitter account not showing any new activity during the downtime period.

#FacebookDown became the top trending topic on Twitter worldwide as a result of the downtime. – Rappler.com
