MANILA, Philippines – Facebook users in the United States visit the social network an average of 40 minutes a day, more than doubling the daily average of Facebook use from 2013.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted this bit of information at Facebook’s earnings call for Q2 2014.

Facebook, whose shares jumped more than 5% to $75.05 in after-market trades as a result of the earnings call, also noted that US users were on Facebook for 17.39 minutes last year compared to this year’s 40-minute usage times.

The Facebook quarterly report did not indicate how many Americans are on FB, but according to a 2013 report by Pew Research, two-thirds of online American adults (67%) are Facebook users.

The social network notes that there are now 829 million people worldwide using Facebook daily. More than 650 million people of those take advantage of Facebook’s services on a mobile device every day. – Rappler.com
