Apple releases OS X Bash bug update
MANILA, Philippines – Apple released a new update on Monday, September 29, addressing the recently discovered bug called "Bash" or "Shellshock" by security experts.
The flaw affects "Unix-based operating systems" powered by Linux and Apple's Mac OS (operating system), and the US Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) earlier noted that if hackers exploit the bug, they could take control of a computer and "execute arbitrary code on an affected system."
According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple previously said only a few Macs were impacted by the bug, with most users protected by default.
The bash update, which comes in versions for OS X Mavericks, Lion, and Mountain Lion, can be downloaded from Apple's Support Center, though it is expected to be added to the OS X Software Update system soon. – Rappler.com
