GoPro releases entry level camera, new flagship models

MANILA, Philippines – GoPro announced Tuesday, September 30, 3 new models in its camera lineup, bringing flexibility to budding, budget-conscious GoPro users.

The flagship spot has been turned over to the new GoPro Hero4 Black. The Hero4 Black features 4K video at 30 frames per second (fps) and 1080p at 120fps. It can also give out 12 megapixel (MP) photos at 30fps and has improved performance in low light both for photo and video.

The Hero4 Black is said to give out minimally compressed, ‘cinema-caliber’ output while giving the user more flexibility with the manual controls on Color, ISO Limit, White Balance, Sharpness and Exposure.

For the Hero4 Silver, it’s basically the Hero3+ Black in a better package. It has 1080p video at 30fps and 720p at 120fps, 12MP photos at 30fps with the perks of lowlight modes for photo and video and Protune. Both the Hero4 Black and Silver take advantage of WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

One noticeable difference between the two is the presence of a touch-LCD screen at the back of the Hero4 Silver despite being a step lower than the flagship model.

The most interesting addition though is the new GoPro Hero. It’s the company’s entry-level offering for people who want to have a GoPro experience without leaving a hole in their pockets. Featuring 1080p30, 720p60, 5mp photos at 5fps, and a lowlight mode for video, it is also waterproof up to 40 meters like its big brothers.

The new models will be available starting October 5. The Black is priced at $499, Silver at $399 and the Hero at $129. – Rappler.com
