Samsung’s T1 stores a terabyte in a card-sized drive
It's small, lightweight, and can carry up to a terabyte of password-protected, encrypted data

MANILA, Philippines – At the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung announced a security-protected portable storage drive that aims to pack up to 1 terabyte (TB) of data onto a drive the size of a business card.

The T1 can be password protected, but also comes with its own security software built-in, supporting AES 256-bit data encrption. According to Mashable, this allows it to have security standards similar to what the NSA uses for protecting top-secret data.

The drive comes in at 71.0 x 9.2 x 53.2 mm and has a maximum weight of 30 grams. It supports USB 3.0 and 2.0 – no USB 3.1 support, sadly – and has a maximum transfer speed of up to 450 megabytes per second (MBps).

The T1 begins shipping in the US on January 20, with the drive coming in at US$179 for 250GB of storage, $299 for 500GB, and $599 for 1TB. More information is available on Samsung’s website. – Rappler.com
