MANILA, Philippines – PlayStation Music, Sony’s media team-up with Swedish music streaming service Spotify, is set to go live on Monday, March 30, in 41 markets around the world.
A new blogpost by Eric Lempel, Vice President of Sony Network Entertainment, explained the process to take advantage of the new service.
According to Lempel, users will be able to link their existing PlayStation accounts to Spotify, then use their accounts to pick up Spotify Premium, if they so choose, for $9.99 monthly.
New Spotify users, as well as users of Sony’s Music Unlimited service – which the company phased out and replaced with PlayStation Music – can take advantage of free Spotify Premium time.
Existing subscribers to Music Unlimited with active accounts as of March 29 will receive two months of free access to Spotify Premium. Meanwhile, new and existing Spotify users who have not tried out Spotify Premium can grab a free month of the service for the console.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 owners can also use the Spotify Connect feature on the official Spotify app for Android and iOS to select playlists, skip songs, adjust the volume and perform other functions.
In its FAQ, Sony also listed the following countries as eligible for PlayStation Music at present:
- Andorra

- Australia
- Belgium

Attempts to access the PlayStation Music link listed in Spotify’s blogpost from the Philippines appear to lead to a sign-up sheet to learn about the Philippine availability of PlayStation Music, rather than to access to the PlayStation Music service as of this writing. – Rappler.com
