Smart’s 5G roaming services have launched in Japan, teaming up with Japanese telco NTT Docomo, Smart announced on Tuesday, April 13.

The latest roaming launch follows activations in Australia with Vodafone; in China with China Mobile; in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia with Zain; in the United Arab Emirates with Etisalat and du; in Taiwan with FarEasTone; and in South Korea with KT Corp.

Smart prepaid and postpaid subscribers will be able to use 5G roaming services using a Smart 5G-capable SIM and 5G-capable device. A GigaRoam Japan plan is available for P1,299, valid for 10 days, with 3GB of data. Other GigaRoam packs can be found here: roam.smart.com.ph 

Globe earlier in March announced plans to launch 5G roaming services in Japan, Oman, Taiwan, Macao, North America, and European countries such as Belgium and Luxembourg within Q2 of this year.
