MANILA, Philippines – Twitter’s bold move to expand each tweet’s length from 140 to 280 characters Wednesday, November 8, sparked a lot of reactions. Some still felt that the more stringent 140 characters led to more disciplined and creative tweets, while others praised the high heavens for finally getting a little more room to spell out their thoughts. 

Either way, the doubling of Twitter’s character limit led to quite a number of smart, funny, and even heartwarming tweets, and made the hashtag #280characters trend worldwide.
