Netizens ask PCOO: Who is ‘Rogelio’ Golez? Is he from ‘Norwegia’?
The Presidential Communications Operations Office draws flak yet again for using the wrong name for the late National Security Adviser Jose Roilo Golez in its media releases

MANILA, Philippines – Yesterday, it’s Norwegia. Today, Rogelio.

Netizens on Friday, June 15, caught another mistake by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) – a day after the agency said the Norwegian ambassador came from “Norwegia.”

In a tweet, PCOO referred to the late National Security Adviser and former Parañaque congressman Roilo Golez as “Rogelio.”

Golez’s first name, however, is not Rogelio but Jose Roilo.

This gaffe came just a day after PCOO in a Facebook post mistakenly referred to the Kingdom of Norway as “Norwegia.” Netizens were quick to spot this mistake and expressed their disappointment in the government agency for displaying lack of competence.

Here are some of the reactions from Twitter:

The name “Rogelio” referring to Golez was also used by PCOO as a caption to a Facebook post on Thursday, June 14.

After over 7 hours, at around 9:30 pm, the tweet with the glaring error had been deleted.

Some media organizations committed the same mistake when they reported President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to the wake of the former representative, carrying the name Rogelio from the Palace releases.

Golez’s son, current Parañaque City Vice Mayor Rico Golez, even requested the media to correct the blunder.
