#ReturnoftheKing gets mixed reactions, Wade releases statement
MANILA, Philippines - The King is coming home.
Four years after The Decision to take his talents to South Beach, LeBron James is returning to the Cavaliers, a move that shocked, amused, and annoyed NBA fans.
After winning taking home two championship rings for the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013, and botching a third attempt this year, it looks like LeBron's free agency decision was the talk of the town.
Unlike in 2010, there was no TV show, no big production. The four-time MVP announced his decision on Instagram shortly after the news broke in an Sports Illustrated exclusive essay.
The much-anticipated move set the rest of the free agent dominoes in motion starting with Bosh re-signing to the now King-less Miami Heat, and Lin being traded by the Rockets to the Lakers.
Needless to say, the #ReturnoftheKing made waves on social media with over 2.5 million mentions of LeBron on Twitter shortly after the announcement.
The top contributors are Sports Illustrated, Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, LeBron James, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Welcome Home @kingjames. I am excited for the fans and people of Cleveland and Ohio. No fans and people deserve a winner more than them.....— Dan Gilbert (@cavsdan) July 11, 2014
