No monopod? No problem: Fake monopod selfies invade the web

MANILA, Philippines – Monopods, those collapsible rods you attach to cameras or phones for group photos, are all the rage, especially in the Philippines. Step into any mall and you’re bound to see a family or barkada huddled together, staring up at a gadget hovering a foot or two across them.

Admittedly, they can be annoying, the same way seeing someone take a selfie in public gives you the urge to roll your eyes. But hey, it’s a free country, and chances are, even you have done a selfie or been in a “groupie” yourself.

Some clever folks, however, have managed to turn the monopod craze on its head. Through creative angles and ridiculous props, merely pretending to take a monopod shot seems to be even more fun than the original!
