MANILA, Philippines – Which Philippine advertisements caught the attention and interest of netizens last year?
On Tuesday, February 3, Google Philippines released the list of the 10 most popular Youtube ads in the country for 2014.
According to Team Asia, the list was determined by combining organic and paid views for the past 12 months, merging both popularity and promotional performance of the brands.
It also revealed how the local advertising industry learned the value of made-for-web contents for the campaigns, and that Filipinos respond well to culturally-relevant advertisements.
Below are the top 10 Youtube advertisements for 2014:
10. Jollibee – Dito MASAYA!
This Jollibee ad was viewed over 400,000 times since it was posted January 2014. Watch the members of Jollibee Kids Club as they perform in a music video that will surely make you sing along with one of the cutest boy bands we’ve ever laid our eyes on.
9. Nike Football – Winner Stays. ft. Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, Rooney, Ibrahimović, Iniesta & more
Garnering over 100 million views since it was published in April, “Winner Stays” was Nike’s second video for its #RiskEverything campaign ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This all-star video featured some of the world’s football superstars with special appearances by LA Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, mixed martial artists Jon Jones and Anderson Silva, Russian model Irina Shayk, and The Incredible Hulk.
8. Google Philippines – Miss Nothing
This advertisement with a strong message about Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who can’t be with their families during the holiday season now have over one million views since it was posted in December. In line with Google Philippines’ #MissNothing balikbayan campaign, it also encourages viewers to be a part of its online OFW community.
7. Air New Zealand – The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made
This video could easily be one of the most creative airline safety video ever produced. Published in October 2014, this #airnzhobbit safety video incorporated the airline’s celebration of the final installment of hit film The Hobbit. Way to go, Air New Zealand!
6. KLM – KLM Lost & Found service
Now with over 17 million views in a little over 4 months, The Royal Dutch Airlines featured a unique and admirable lost and found service in Amsterdam with a mission to bring back the lost items to its owners as soon as possible with the help of its Social Media Team. Oh, and meet the newest member of their team!
5. Mang Inasal – Angel Locsin Ipinaglaban Ang True Love Niya
With actress Angel Locsin appearing in this one minute Mang Inasal prank advertisment, it became evident that ads featuring local celebrities still works. This tried and tested strategy brought this campaign in the middle of the pack with over a million views in 10 months.
4. #AllergicAkoSa – #AllergicAkoSa Song
#AllergicAkoSa became one of the many viral Youtube videos last year. Published in July, this video did not only gather over 700,000 views but also made the hashtag trend in various social media platforms. Ikaw, saan ka allergic (What are you allergic to)?
3. Unilever – DIY Fish Tail Braid – All Things Hair
Here’s a video featuring fashion blogger Angela Nepomuceno. With over 800,000 views since August, Angela talked about haircare and hairstyle options like a side fishtail braid. Check this out, ladies!
2. Samsung – Samsung GALAXY S5 – Official Introduction
This 4-minute introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S5 gained almost 30 million views since March. It focused on several capabilities and fuctionalities that definitely captured the attention of Filipinos. True enough, this latest model of the Galaxy S-line became one of the popular smartphones in the country since its release.
1. Coca-Cola – The Happiest Thank You
“Who are the people you say thank you to every day?” Global brand Coca-Cola earned the top spot of the list with its heartwarming advertisement. Uploaded in September, this #ShareACoke video now have almost 3 million views. Indeed, Coca-Cola surprised the country and the world with this touching ad.
