Tweets call Cayetano speech ‘inane,’ ‘very well said’
Senator Alan Cayetano says the proposed Bangsamoro law should not be passed unless the MILF first surrenders all its firearms. Twitter users react.

MANILA, Philippines – On Wednesday, March 11, Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano gave a privilege speech on the Mamasapano operation.

He has been making headlines due to the way he has been questioning the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the government’s peace negotiators during hearings on the January 25 clash that left 44 Special Action Force troopers dead. They were allegedly killed by Moro rebels, supposedly including MILF fighters.

Cayetano’s privilege speech circled around the possible dangers of passing the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL). He said the MILF were never truly after peace.
