MANILA, Philippines - Gaming giant Ubisoft is present at the E-Sports and Gaming Summit 2015 (ESGS) at the SMX Convention in the Mall of Asia from October 24 to 25, and they're looking to add to their ranks.
The company set up a demo area for their latest releases Just Dance 2016, and Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. Aside from giving the Filipino gaming community a glimpse of these two games through demo kiosks, Ubisoft also invited attendees to submit their resumes for an opportunity to join the company.
While it was initially speculated that this is due to Ubisoft potentially setting up their own production studio in the Philippines, Communications Manager for Ubisoft Singapore Sylviane Bahr did not confirm this, saying instead that Ubisoft was pooling talent for its established studios. “We’re always everywhere in the world, and so we’re having a look at the great talents here,” she said.
Currently, the Ubisoft team at ESGS are not looking to fill any specific position, but Bahr mentioned that the skills of interested applicants must be related to the gaming industry. “We’re looking for any type of talent, any type of skills, but within the gaming industry of course. So we’re looking for artists, designers, project managers.”
Bahr believes that Filipino applicants will have an edge due to their English speaking skills. “For us, what is very important is our culture. I believe that for Filipinos, it will be really easy for them to understand the corporate culture of Ubisoft. The level of English here is amazing, which makes it very attractive for an international company like Ubisoft to hire.”
Aside from their command of the English language, Bahr also praised the creativity of Filipinos. “The level of creativity of the people here is very impressive. We have a lot of Filipino creatives in our studio in Singapore and they are amazing artists. We really believe that we’re going to source some excellent talents here.”
Those interested can submit their resumes until October 25 at Ubisoft’s booth during ESGS. Those who cannot join the summit can send their applications over to Ubisoft Singapore’s Facebook page. – Rappler.com
