From iOS 15 to new MacBooks, here's what to expect

Apple’s annual developer’s conference, WWDC 2021, kicks off on Tuesday, June 8, at 1 am with a keynote. Mostly, as expected from a developer’s conference, the event will gather Apple developers to talk about the latest developments on the various Apple systems – most of it, technical.

Yet that hasn’t stopped the event from having consumer interest as well, with some hardware announcements here and there, and of course, updates on the Apple operating systems we use.

Here’s a Youtube link to the keynote, and a quick preview of those possible announcements:

iOS 15

The next version of Apple’s phone OS may be seeing changes to how it handles notifications with specific settings for what you’re currently doing at the moment (i.e. driving, sleeping) along with extra alerts for apps that may be collecting data on you. iMessage might also be seeing changes that will make it more Messenger-like, for better or worse.

The iPadOS is also expected to introduce some big UI changes, while macOS may have smaller updates.

New Macbook Pros

Bloomberg reports that new MacBook Pros may be on the way, so we’re expecting them to be announced at WWDC. It wasn’t so long ago that Apple introduced their own in-house M1 chips, but we’re already looking at successors to it.

Also rumored: 64GB RAM configurations, and flat edges on the body instead of the current curved ones.

More hardware

While the iOS and MacBook Pro updates have been the most solid rumors off the mill, there’s also word that there may be other new Mac models such as a new MacBook Air and Mac Mini.

As for less traditional pieces of gadgetry, The Verge reports that there may also be a mixed reality headset in the pipeline, which may be equipped with 8K displays, weigh less than an iPhone and cost approximately… $3,000. This one’s a longshot though as the site the device is not expected to launch until 2022 at the earliest but we may just see a glimpse. – Rappler.com
