Hello!

Good morning Rapplers!

Some good news today. Strong consumer spending and household consumption drove the Philippine economy to grow by 6.8% in the 1st quarter of the year, despite a slower agricultural output, higher inflation, and wider trade deficit.

In Kuwait, 4 Filipino drivers arrested after the controversial rescues of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were freed by the Kuwaiti government. On the 3 Filipino diplomats who have arrest warrants in Kuwait, the Philippine government is expecting good news in the next few days according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

And in neighbouring Malaysia, a surprise victory for veteran ex-leader Mahathir Mohamad, 92, who toppled the country's scandal-plagued premier and ousted a regime that had ruled for over 6 decades.

All this and more are on today's wRap.
