From the historic Trump-Kim summit to President Duterte being heckled on Independence day to Sereno at Tindig Pilipinas

Dear Rappler readers,

Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un shared a historic handshake Tuesday, June 12, as they held an unprecedented summit to confront a tense decades-old nuclear stand-off and enmity stretching back to the Cold War.

President Rodrigo Duterte was heckled during his speech at his first Independence Day ceremony as chief executive in Kawit, Cavite.

Even as she denies that she has joined the opposition, former chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno delivered the key address at the biggest assembly yet of Tindig Pilipinas, telling the coalition to not be diverted and join forces with other freedom fighters.

Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Oscar Badelles, CA Associate Justice Manuel Barrios, Davao Judge Carlos Espero II stumbled answering the question “What are the elements of freedom of expression?”  The members of the judiciary are applying for the Supreme Court associate justice post. The subject matter is tackled during the first year of law school.

The Department of Foreign Affairs DFA opened 100,000 slots in its passport appointment system, Thursday, June 14.

In a historic first, the Supreme Court (SC), will tackle in oral arguments a petition seeking to legalize same-sex marriage in the Philippines.

In this episode of “Right of Way,” road safety advocate Vince Lazatin joins longtime commuter Nikki Veron Cruz on her way to work. They talk about ninja routes, problematic sidewalks, bus seatmate nightmares, and firing back at leery catcallers.
