Launched in Cebu in November 2010, TechTalks.ph now has four chapters in the country – Cebu, Davao, Tagbilaran, and Iloilo, each with their own grass roots community of entrepreneurs, designers, and developers.

Amper is also the global organizer of the World Startup Report which aims to learn from local entrepreneurs around the world and pool together best business practices and knowledge.

Dave Overton is the founder of Symph, a design and development studio based in Cebu. Overton was the former CIO of Bigfoot – a media and entertainment company. With his wife, Overton also founded the non-profit organization, Glory Reborn, which provides free maternity care and has delivered over 3,000 healthy babies so far.

Jim Ayson works with the Smart Developer Network, a community program of Smart Communications for technopreneurs who use Smart’s developer platforms.

Earl Valencia is the president of Ideaspace.ph, a non-profit incubator fund for science and technology start-ups in the Philippines. Started in March 2013, Ideaspace.ph reaches out and supports entrepreneurs with ideas which they feel have potential to go global.

All self-proclaimed geeks, they will talk to Rappler about Geeks on a Beach (GOAB), a 2-day conference for people who are passionate about startups, technology, and design.

Set on September 26-27 in Boracay, GOAB is bringing in a number of experts from around the world to share their ideas on how startups work, and how they can work better. GOAB’s aim to encourage and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.
