This is the San Juanico Bridge, which connects Samar and Leyte – two of the areas to be hardest hit by super typhoon Yolanda.

PAGASA raised signal number four in the Eastern Visayas region, including this place where we are. We can now feel the strong wind and rain in this area.

PAGASA warns residents in these communities to prepare for stronger winds and rain this evening, as it expects Yolanda to make landfall in the Samar-Leyte region Friday morning.

The government advises residents in affected communities to evacuate promptly.

Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and other government officials are now in the area to oversee evacuation – and other efforts to respond to one of the strongest typhoons in recent history.
