MANILA, Philippines – On November 8, the most powerful super typhoon of the year hit the Philippines, mercilessly damaging the Visayas region. Typhoon Yolanda, international name Haiyan, left cities and towns flattened, filling them with dead bodies and mountains of debris. Images and videos of destruction slowly came to the public through television, newspapers, and social media.

Faced with the almost unimaginable destruction, people around the Philippines immediately established relief operations and donation centers. The government, the private sector, civil society and international and local humanitarian organizations set up means to send much needed aid to the victims of Yolanda, in the effort to do what they can in a seemingly helpless situation. Netizens also pitch in, sharing news reports and relief efforts. For their part, YouTube users Monica and Kitty came up with this tribute for the victims of the typhoon, hoping to inspire.
