‘Only Human’: Family matters
Act One presents ‘Only Human,’ a story about a daughter who confronts her chauvinistic father after being estranged for years.

A timely piece on sexism and chauvinism, Only Human looks at filmmaker Mia Maramara and her complicated relationship with her father, Gus, an old-fashioned man with problematic points of view.

The short film, programmed as part of New Zealand’s Loading Docs, is an intimate look at the dynamics of modern Filipino families and questions the strength of familial ties when our politics and ideals go asunder.

Only Human is part of the Loading Docs 2021 short documentary collection. For more films, you can visit their official website.
