MILF NOT KEEN ON SURRENDERING MAMASAPANO FIGHTERS
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front or MILF says it cannot guarantee the surrender of its troops involved in the bloody clash in Mamasapano.
Chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal says the MILF disciplines its own men. 
The clash resulted in the death of 44 police commandos, 18 MILF rebels, and at least 3 civilians.
The police were on a mission to terminate top terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir or Marwan.
On Wednesday the MILF returned to the government peace panel 16 firearms confiscated from the police.
Iqbal says this gesture is difficult enough.
He says “It was hard to convince them because what happened there was a legitimate encounter and we also lost men.”

FILIPINA NURSE CLEAR OF MERS-COV
The Filipina nurse diagnosed with MERS is now clear of the virus.
The health department cleared the nurse after 3 succeeding tests yielded negative results.
After the nurse arrived in Manila from Saudi Arabia on February 1, she went through 3 initial tests, all with positive results.
Health Secretary Janette Garin says the nurse was discharged either late Thursday or early Friday. 
However, as part of protocol, she will be in a 10-day home quarantine for further observation.

HEIDI MENDOZA DESIGNATED AS COA OIC
Commission on Audit or COA Commissioner Heidi Mendoza is named acting chair following the retirement of Grace Pulido Tan. 
Mendoza was a witness during the impeachment trial of former Chief Justice Renato Corona in 2012.
Ombudsman Conchita Morales said Mendoza helped analyze Corona’s dollar accounts. 
Mendoza is also a government witness in the trial of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s wife Elenita on corruption charges when she was still city mayor.

PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT WATCH ON ‘RED ALERT’
Word on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather fight could be coming soon. 
ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael tweets Friday he was moving his Pacquiao-Mayweather “threat level” to red. 
He says, “There is severe risk this fight will be finalized.”
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix tweets, “From what I hear virtually all lingering issues resolved.”
But the only one who can make an official announcement is Mayweather…
who seems in no rush to end the suspense.
