MANILA, Philippines – #TalkThursday talks to Fr Joe Quilongquilong SJ, the Rector of the Loyola House of Studies. Father Joe completed the Licentiate and Doctorate in Spirituality at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. While doing his studies, he also worked as regional secretary for Asia-Pacific at the Jesuit General Curia in Rome. For his dissertation, he wrote about the grace of vocation in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola.
Father Joe will tell us about the significance of a Jesuit Pope and the challenges that face Pope Francis in leading the Roman Catholic Church. It now faces growing secularism in the West and rising Islamic radicalism, while internally, its Roman Curia is hounded by reports of intrigue and infighting.
