MANILA, Philippines – Rappler talked to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) research scientist Dr. Jayakanth Srinivasan.

Srinivasan finished graduate degrees in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT, and in avionics engineering from Anna University. Continuing his studies, he received his doctoral degree from the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering at Malardalen University in Sweden.

Srinivasan’s most recent research endeavors center on the application of principles used in lean enterprises to public sector services and groups. Published in 2011, his book Beyond the Lean Revolution: Achieving Successful and Sustainable Enterprise Transformation, co-authored with Deborah Nightingale, is a compilation of seven principles leaders can use in efforts to transform their operations. His research is applicable to software organizations, governmental agencies, and services such as health care.

Srinivasan talked to Rappler about his different research projects and share his recommendations for transforming organizations into innovative teams. How can a group deal with constant change and demand while building the framework for innovative work?
