Makeup artists Georginna Desuadido, Maggie Wilson, and Kenta Kutsuma teach you how to give yourself a halloween makeover.

MANILA, Philippines – Halloween is here and it’s time to step up the game. Makeup artists Georginna Desuadido, Maggie Wilson and Kenta Kutsuma teach you how to give yourself a halloween makeover.

Carol Ramoran reports.

We’re here today at Purebeauty in Serendra and we’ll be asking makeup experts how to look spooky enough for the occasion.
Though a good zombie or sugar skull look may seem intimidating, make up artist Georginna Desuasido says it can easily be duplicated at home.

GEORGINNA DESUADIDO, MAKEUP ARTIST: Definitely, you can do it. Aside from the videos on the net, you can do it because it’s very simple. When we teach a special effects class, that’s one of the things students realize. That all they need to do is know their materials and everything comes so easy after that.

Model, beauty queen and make-up art student Maggie Wilson demonstrates. To make a fake bullet wound, Maggie uses wax to shape tissue into a donut before sticking it on to the model’s forehead. She then adds paint and fake blood over the wound to make it look fresh. For longer facial wounds, Maggie uses four layers of tissue. She lets it dry, before cutting the center and painting over it with fake blood.

For rotting teeth, Maggie uses a special product available in the salon — nail polish – for the teeth. It’s non-toxic, has a minty flavor, and will surely make your zombie make up look real.

MAGGIE WILSON, MODEL AND MAKEUP ART STUDENT: You just have to be creative with the paint. A lot of it has to do with the painting, fake blood helps in making it gory and nasty. It’s just really a lot of imagination and creativity. it’s very easy to do as long as you have the tools.

For a sugar skull look, make up artist Kenta Kutsuma uses make up and items that are readily available at home.

KENTA KUTSUMA, MAKEUP ARTIST: You just need a couple of things like face paint, eye liner’s very important. A few eyeshadows, and maybe glitters crystals to add a glamorous effect to the look

First, Kenta paints my face white. Then she outlines the eyes, the nose, the lips, and then draws webs and stitches on my face with eyeliner. She blends eye shadows and adds false eye lashes to make the eyes pop out.

For a more glamorous look, Kenta also adds glitters and plastic crystals using liquid latex as glue. Kenta and Maggie say learning how to create the perfect Halloween look can be quick and easy. All you need is creativity, the proper materials, some Youtube tutorial videos than can show you the step-by-step process, and of course – practice.
