Gameplan: A backpacker’s tale
Every time he travels, Gameplan host Juls Rodriguez only brings one backpack with him

MANILA, Philippines – Gameplan host Julian Rodriguez has caught the travel bug early on, going around the world and meeting different people for many years now. He goes around with just one backpack and his trusty camera, interacting with locals and foreigners to experience life to the fullest and find himself in the process. When asked why he goes backpacking, he muses:

“Who you are is a result of the experiences you’ve had in your life. There is no grand reveal. The events that happen in our lives, the places we go to, and the people we meet – these are what shape us.”

“In a world guided by concrete and electronics, far away isn’t really so far away anymore. We are at a point where we have more recorded information about the world than ever before. There is more knowledge available about what we can expect out there from the past experiences of the ones before us.”

“It is because when we lose most, if not everything we have, and reduce life to its lowest terms, do we find out what is most important,” he said.

Together with his two co-hosts, Julian and the Gameplan team are all set to travel to Kalinga, a mountainous province in the Cordillera Administrative Region. And as always, he never forgot to bring three important things – his camera, his backpack, and a little bit of positivity. – Rappler.com
