SHORT FILM: ‘The Gift’

SINGAPORE – “Why are we not rich?”

This is a question asked by a boy to his father in this film by Singaporean director Daniel Yam. The father, who works odd jobs, dodges his question, asking back “Who says we’re not rich? Being rich is not about how much you have, but of how much you give.”

The boy eventually grows up to become a man, but one who is detached from the things that matter the most – his father included.
