After keeping a low profile at the height of heavy rains brought by tropical storm Maring and the southwest monsoon, President Benigno Aquino steps out and visits hard hit areas.

His first stop is De La Paz Elem School in Binan Laguna, one of the province’s 47 evacuation centers. 328 families or over 1,300 individuals are seeking shelter here according to local DSWD officials.

The entire Laguna province was declared under a state of calamity Tuesday August 20. Gov Er Ejercito says a total of 69 brgys
And more than 20k families or 85k people have been affected in the whole province.

During his visit, Aquino personallu distributes relief goods including blankets and food to victims.

Aquino is set to visit other evacuation centers in San Pedro, Laguna and Mandaluyong while government agencies focus on relief operations to provide aid to the over 1m Filipinos nationwide affected by rains and floods.
