MANILA, Philippines – In a matter of seconds, the cries of a deaf baby boy turned into smiles of joy as he hears his parents’ voices for the first time.

When Lachlan Lever was born, he was diagnosed with moderate-to-severe hearing loss. His parents, Toby and Michelle, decided to have their son fitted with a hearing aid when he was seven weeks old.

The priceless moment was captured on camera in 2012, and recently shared to the public on YouTube.

The video shows Lachlan crying as a hearing aid is fitted into his ear. Within seconds, he becomes quiet, then a smile spreads on his face as he listens to the sound around him.

Since the video went viral, it has gotten more than 6 million views and more than 1,300 comments.

Lachlan’s parents have said that they “cried from happiness” when they saw their son hear for the first time.

He is now two years old and is reported to be “doing remarkably well.” – Rappler.com
