MANILA, Philippines – Nestle has removed beef pasta meals in Italy and Spain, following evidence of trace amounts horse DNA in two of its products.

Most of the EU has been dealing with the horse meat scandal affecting various sectors of the food industry by recalling food products and preparing tests on various food products.

Reuters reported Nestle withdrew two of its chilled pasta meals, Buitoni Beef Ravioli and Beef Tortellini, after finding more than 1% horse DNA in the products. The company will also be withdrawing Lasagnes a la Bolognaise Gourmandes, a French product used by catering businesses.

Nestle also released a statement saying, “We have informed the authorities accordingly,” The company added, “There is no food safety issue.” – Rappler.com
