A Filipino lawyer is playing a key role in the high-stakes United Nations climate summit in Glasgow, known as COP26.

Vicente Paolo Yu III, also known as Vice to friends and colleagues, is the climate negotiator for the biggest negotiating bloc at the conference, the G77 and China Group.

The bloc includes 134 developing countries, including the Philippines. China is not a member but supports the G77 Group on several key aspects of climate talks.

Rappler senior reporter Pia Ranada sits down with Yu in Glasgow for an interview about what it’s like to be in the thick of crafting new climate agreements. They’ll also talk about how negotiations are going so far and what they mean for vulnerable countries like the Philippines. – Rappler.com
