Rappler Talk: ISIS in Southeast Asia

Rappler talks to Zachary Abuza, a policy analyst specializing on Southeast Asian politics and security issues. He is the principal of Southeast Asia Analytics and a professor at the National War College in Washington, DC.  He is the author of four books – Conspiracy of Silence: The Insurgency in Southern Thailand (2008),Political Islam and Violence in Indonesia (2006), Militant Islam in Southeast Asia (2003), and Renovating Politics in Contemporary Vietnam (2001).  He authored the Southeast Asian chapter in the acclaimed study Leaving Terrorism Behind. 

With the recent attacks in Paris, France, Southeast Asia should be alarmed over the looming threat of terrorists from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The threat posed by ISIS in Southeast Asia is comparatively small, but real, and it has the potential to become larger if not addressed properly.
