Int’l musicians support Jokowi on Twitter, FB

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Netizens in Indonesia have been busy throughout Tuesday, July 8, sharing messages of support for Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo from international musicians such as Sting, English band Arkarna, Jason Mraz, and Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot‘ Thal. 

Most of the messages used the hashtag #Jokowi9Juli, referencing the date of the election on July 9. Jokowi is a known fan of heavy metal music and was even given a signed bass guitar by the band Metallica after their concert in Jakarta last year, which the governor attended. Jokowi, however, had to turn it over to the country’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to avoid a potential violation of the Corruption Law.
